BANGKOK - The death toll from clashes between the troops and red-shirt protesters in Bangkok since May 14 has risen to 37, according to the latest casualty counting by the Erawan emergency center of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Tuesday morning.

According to the center, as of Tuesday 9:00 a.m., a total of 282 people were wounded in the clashes in the Thai capital.

The clashes occurred as the government led by Abhisit Vejjajiva decided to seal off the red-shirt-occupied downtown area, which since early April have been occupied by the anti-government protesters who demand Abhisit to dissolve the parliament and to hold snap election.
