India hands over $20m flood aid to Pakistan

NEW DELHI - India has given US$20 million of aid to Pakistan for the relief of flood victims, official sources said?in New Delhi?Saturday.

The cheque of US$20 million was handed over to the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon by India's permanent representative to the United Nations, Hardeep Singh Puri, in New York on Friday, the sources said.

Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN, Abdullah Hussain Haroon, was present during India's contribution towards the "Pakistan Emergency Response Plan," the sources said.

This is in addition to US$5 million llars that Indian had earlier given to the World Food Program for its relief efforts in Pakistan.
