Rousseff will follow the policy of her predecessor Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who was committed to close bilateral cooperation in tackling global problems, Secretary General of Brazilian Presidency Gilberto Carvalho told Xinhua in a recent interview.

Carvalho, who had served in the former Lula cabinet, said Brazil and China have much in common, such as the similar actions they have taken to boost domestic consumption and economic activities during the global financial crisis, which helped both countries to the reduce the impact of the crisis.

On Monday, Marco Aurelio Garcia, a foreign policy advisor to Rousseff, was quoted by a governmental website as saying that China would be among Rousseff's first foreign trip destinations.
