He also assured that Malaysia is committed to give full cooperation in the investigation and seek justice for the sake of families and friends of the victims.

On the same day, Malaysian Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai said in a press conference after the memorial that one of the two main investigations on the downing of MH17 is nearing completion.

"The Dutch Safety Board (DSB), which is leading the technical investigation, has provided all countries involved, including Malaysia, with a draft of the final report," he said, adding that the final report is expected to be officially released in October this year.

The memorial was attended by the victims' next-of-kin, MAS staff, Malaysian senior officials, religious leaders and foreign dignitaries.

MAS flight MH17 crashed in eastern Ukraine on July 17 last year on its way from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, killing all the 298 people on board.
