Former HK magistrate on dispensing with jury trials in national security cases

It is a reasonable and common practice to dispense with a jury trial in national security cases, for the sake of protecting sensitive information, says Symon Wong Yu-wing, a barrister and former Eastern Court magistrate in Hong Kong.
The courts of many developed countries, including the US, UK and Canada, hold legal proceedings without a jury when they deal with cases involving national security, Wong told China Daily on Thursday.
