Environmental initiatives pay dividends for businesses big and small
The port city of Tianjin is pushing ahead with its long-term green initiatives, where progress is being made in energy usage and trading.
In addition to the explosive growth in the consumption and trade of green electricity in recent years, Tianjin has established the Carbon Management Integrated Service Platform to aid governments and businesses in enhancing their carbon management strategies.
Since its launch in June 2023, the Tianjin Electric Power Dual-Carbon Center has functioned like a "carbon management navigator".
Whether aiming to reduce carbon costs, comply with new international trade regulations, or establish a green brand, companies and organizations can use the center's expertise to optimize energy-saving and emission-reduction strategies, develop new technologies, mobilize carbon assets, complete carbon trading, and undergo carbon certification.
For manufacturers facing export challenges due to "carbon barriers", State Grid Tianjin Electric Power Co is offering services such as carbon footprint accounting and certification to tag products with a "green identity card".
For example, TBEA Intelligent Jing-jin-ji Technology Co in Wuqing district, previously struggled in international markets due to a lack of internationally recognized carbon footprint data. With assistance from State Grid Tianjin Electric Power Co, the company precisely calculated the carbon footprint of its hybrid wind turbine transformers in order to meet clients' stringent carbon requirements.
"With the carbon footprint certificate, our products now hold a 'green passport' in global markets, enhancing our competitiveness in green, low-carbon industries," said Yuan Xiaoxiao, head of TBEA Jing-jin-ji Intelligent Technology's finance department.
