Taiwan leader Lai Ching-te's travel to Eswatini, like a stowaway, is perfect proof that "Taiwan independence" separatist acts are too shameful to be made public, and his act is nothing but a scandal and farce, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.

Lin Jian, a spokesman for the ministry, made the remarks when asked to comment on Lai's travel to Eswatini on Saturday on the private jet of the King of Eswatini. Lai returned to Taiwan on Tuesday.

Lai boarded a foreign plane and sneaked into Eswatini by colluding with the country to conceal passenger information, Lin noted. On his return flight, after being denied overflight by relevant countries, Lai again managed to force his way through, Lin added.

By cheating his way into Eswatini and forcing his way back, Lai ignored the airspace and sovereignty of the countries concerned, and such a move is dangerous and reckless, said the spokesman.

The move also proved that "Taiwan independence" separatist activities are not acceptable to the international community, Lin said.

The spokesman also condemned some politicians in Eswatini who are being "kept and fed" by Taiwan and criticized their actions in providing space for "Taiwan independence" separatist forces, saying that this runs counter to the tide of history.

To recognize the broader trend and follow the will of their people to develop ties with China, or to continue being manipulated by forces like Lai and serve as a political prop, politicians in countries that are so-called "diplomatic allies" of Taiwan should think carefully and make a clear decision, rather than persisting down the wrong path, Lin said.

Facts have repeatedly shown that the one-China principle is a prevailing consensus in the international community and cannot be shaken, he said.

The pursuit of "Taiwan independence" separatism is a dead end and its days are numbered, Lin said, adding that any new attempt Lai makes to advance his separatist agenda will only box himself further in.

China urges "Taiwan independence" separatist forces to turn back from the wrong course, which is the only right choice, Lin added.
