Toy carnival opens in Beijing's Chaoyang Park
A toy carnival that opened in Beijing's Chaoyang Park on Friday will run until May 24.
Claimed as the first nation-level event of its kind, the 2026 China New Cultural and Creative Market & Trendy Toy Carnival extends over an area of approximately 66,000 square meters.
The event offers a one-stop experience featuring cultural exhibitions, creative products, trendy styles, intangible cultural heritage projects and digital technology development.
A number of leading museums, including the Palace Museum, the National Museum of China and Sanxingdui Museum, are represented at the carnival, while examples of 43 national, provincial and municipal-level intangible cultural heritage craftsmanship are on display.
Some national-level intangible cultural inheritors demonstrated exquisite traditional crafts onsite, including horsetail embroidery and filigree inlay craftsmanship, allowing visitors to experience the charm and warmth of traditional skills up close.
An exhibit showcasing the ancient Mayan and Andean civilizations is set to open on Sunday at Beijing's Capital Museum, with some related products on display at the carnival.
