80% say civil servant hiring process is fair

More than 80 percent of respondents believe that the current recruitment method for civil servants is fair and scientific, according to a research survey by the Chinese Academy of Personnel Science between 2009 and 2011, People's Daily reported Friday.

And of the 15,000 new civil servants recruited by central authorities in 2011, 87.1 percent come from non-civil servant families, according to data by the State Administration of Civil Service (SACS).

SACS classifies the candidates into 10 categories, including workers, farmers, civil servants, and doctors. If neither of the candidate's parents is a civil servant, he or she is considered to be from a non-civil servant family.

This year, 155,000 people have registered for the exams by central authorities, and 82.3 percent of them are from non-civil servant families.
